I'm confused about the Affordable care act and Health Insurance

We’ll start by saying, you’re not alone!
The Exchange
There are several factors in qualifying for insurance through the exchange;

  1. How much your W-2 income was last year and how much your income will be this year.
  2. Regardless of pre-existing conditions, the Affordable Care Act has made health insurance available to all American citizens.
  3. Anybody can purchase insurance through the exchange, but if you make between 100% - 400% of the federal poverty level you may qualify for premium tax credits on the health insurance market place.

There is simply no way to keep the conversation around health insurance simple – but we can help.  The best way to understand is to give us a call – we’ll pick up the phone.
Health Insurance – Outside of the Exchange
In Connecticut there are several carriers (Aetna, Anthem, Connecticare, Healthy CT, United/Oxford) remaining that you can select health insurance from.  In total there are 62 options for individual consumers.
Some factors that determine premium are;
Plan design, carrier, deductibles, coinsurance, co-pays, and other government sponsored programs such as HSA’s.
